What this product is

The unit shown in your photographs is a prepaid electricity/energy meter. Unlike a normal postpaid energy meter, the prepaid system is designed to operate on a pay-as-you-go / managed-credit basis.

The Powertrac documentation describes its prepaid meter as a smart meter that maintains an energy account, supports tariff structures, displays consumption/cost/remaining credit, and can disconnect the load when credit is exhausted or when configured load limits are exceeded.
